If you have arrived from the Global Media newsletter or simply found your way here, welcome to my blog.
This blog will be focused on the everchanging nature of media and integrated marketing communications in a global, connected world. The focus will be on technology marketers and their partners - media owners, ad agencies, consultants, etc.
I created this blog, Collision Media, because there is clearly a paradigm shift in the media and marketing world these dates. Having sold ad space and created integrated programs for tech clients for 13 years, I have seen alot of change. But in the past year, the change is unprecedented. I called this blog "Collision Media" because there will be pain in this new media environment whether it is the old guard losing its position or the new guard making strategic mistakes, no one is going to walk away from this period of media history without a few bumps and bruises.
Recently, I read Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel. The biggest take away for me was the shift from the "control and command" channel of communications to the "shut up and listen" approach. Tools like blogs and social media, really allow the modern corporation or small business to have a two way conversation with its customers, competitors and partners.
So I am hear to talk and more importantly listen. I welcome your thoughts, comments and reactions in the future.
Thanks for listening!
Welcome to the mediasphere James!

You are right about corporations wanting to have control. It is a far different world. The only control organizations have is on the consistency of their messages, they have no control over how others will "tag" them.
